Project Estimator

Project Estimator

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work on a variety of project types, including lump-sum, design-build and construction
    management.
  • Can prioritize tasks without guidance.
  • Ability to provide Value Engineering suggestions.
  • Review project plans/specifications and ensure a complete understanding of the building design.
  • Assist VP Estimation to gather necessary information, compile tender packages, perform quantity take-offs, and call subtrades or suppliers for information.
  • Prepare estimates by understanding proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents.
  • Respond to subtrades tendering questions.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Assist in negotiations by reviewing bids to subtrades, scopes of work, and analyzing costs as bids
    are received.
  • Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Maintain a cost data base by entering and backing up data.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word and Estimation platforms.
  • Efficient use of the Quantity Take-Off program implemented in the office.
  • Understanding of Construction methods and techniques.
  • Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.
  • Able to answer questions from Management regarding project scopes.
  • Setting timelines and meeting them.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent French and English.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant estimation experience in the construction industry.
  • Successful completion of a Construction Engineering Technology degree/diploma is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Senior Site Superintendent

Senior Site Superintendent

  • Must be fluent in French and English

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe job site and ensure requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced as well as Company site specific requirements, including hosting tailgate meetings.
  • Daily direct report to Project Manger or Ownership group.
  • Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses.
  • Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings.
  • Manage and aid in the preparation of the project schedule from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Ensure Company standards of quality and safety are adhered to by assertively championing Company safety culture to project team and subcontractors.
  • Mentor and develop field team members while effectively managing the overall team.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Manager, project team members, and field personnel.
  • Represent Company in a professional manner.
  • Manage the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, construction managers, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, trade unions, and governmental agencies.
  • Responsible for the project set-up, job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
  • Review all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
  • Maintain and update project records including RFI’s, and as-builts.
  • Create and enforce a site-specific emergency action plan.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and utilities companies.
  • Coordinate building inspections and subcontractor inspections.
  • Perform daily job site walks and submit any daily, weekly log reports or other required project documentation.
  • Review the project plans and specifications and ensure a complete understanding of the building design, scheduling and potential construction problems.
  • Inform the Project Manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings or subcontracts.
  • Intelligently communicate with project manager, and sub trades as well as effectively lead the construction process on site.
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control.
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security, safety and safe operation of equipment on the job site.
  • Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required.
  • Ensure that “as-built” drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period.
  • Review and work with the general conditions budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of project deficiency lists and expedite to sub trades.
  • Assemble the job site office and equipment requirements and maintain a tidy site office, meeting room and job site.

Project Administrative Assistant

Project Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support for the project team.
  • Manage and monitor project documents.
  • Organize and coordinate meetings.
  • Assist with the preparation of meeting minutes.
  • Prepare construction documents (contracts, PO’s, tender documents, etc.).
  • Manage subtrade compliance documents.
  • Help with the preparation of monthly billings to the client.
  • Manage Project Manager’s calendar.
  • General administrative tasks (sending emails, filing, etc.).
  • Prepare project start-up and end of project documents.
  • Organize and manage change orders for the project.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in French and English.
  • Experience in a similar position (construction industry experience an asset).
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.

  • Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines.

Project Manager

Project Manager

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the successful start-up, execution and delivery of projects by respecting clients’ expectations, project requirements, budgets and project timelines.
  • Work in collaboration with the Project team.
  • Work with external stakeholders and maintain good client relationships.
  • Assist the Estimation team with the preparation and/or review of subtrade lists for tenders and contact subcontractors to ensure their participation.
  • Prepare, maintain and monitor project schedules.
  • Review, monitor and manage project budgets, and update/revise as required.
  • Ensure proper allocation of subtrade and professional resources.
  • Assist in the preparation of Subtrade contracts.
  • Manage requests for information (RFI’s), directives and change orders.
  • Review and approve monthly subtrade, supplier and Professionals invoices for the project(s).
  • Organize site meetings with subcontractors and suppliers; create, maintain and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Prepare monthly project billing.
  • Ensure that close-out documents and manuals are prepared at project completion.
  • Monitor and ensure the completion of all deficiencies on the projects.
  • Implement a strong Health and Safety and Environment culture on site.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be fluent in French and English. 
  • 5+ years of experience in project management roles, with experience managing medium-large scale construction projects.
  • Ability to work as a leader in a team environment.
  • Exceptional time management, communication and negotiating skills.
  • Experience managing and supervising staff.
  • Strong computer skills, advanced knowledge of MS Project.
  • An engineering degree or technical diploma in Construction, Building, Civil or Architecture.
